At the Autonomous Motion Department, we have access to high-tech equipment to support a large range of research activities. Some examples are shown below.
Vicon Motion Capture System
The Vicon system is a 3d motion capture device that uses several cameras to track reflective markers in realtime. We use this system for robot calibration and sensor verification, for example. Therefore we attach markers to the robot and compare the onboard sensor readings with the external measurements.
Hydraulic Actuator Test Bed
The Hydraulic Actuator Test Bed is a modular test environment for a linear hydraulic actuator. The actuator module is equipped with a precise encoder, a force sensor, and a high-performance servo valve. The flywheel module and torsion spring module provide different load cases for the development of new control strategies for high-performance force control. The test bed replicates the dynamics typically experienced on the hydraulic robots in our lab.
Fortus 3D Printer
The Fortus 3D printer produces high performance plastic parts from 3d scans or CAD models using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technique.
Projet 3D Printer
The Projet 3D printer produces parts with very fine detail and smooth surfaces using the Multijet technologie. It uses wax as a support material and a uv lamp to cure the layers.
3D Scanners
The Artec Spider and Artec Eva Scanners use structured light to accurately capture the shape of objects. The scanners are portable and have a RGB camera that provides high quality texture information.
